Musician and road poet Gordie Tentrees plus Seattle band Lovely Colours with Juneau roots and pop-up pottery with Mercedes Munoz
With the temperatures dropping, it’s the time of year when we are warmed by family, taking care of each other and ourselves. On today’s Juneau Afternoon, host Katie Bausler chats with guests about well-being, care for family, and safety around the holidays.
Whenever Muñoz releases a small batch of her work online, it sells out. Quickly.
Her pottery features a technique called Mishima that allows her to etch fine dark lines onto the surface of her porcelain pieces, marrying her background in drawing and illustration with organic three-dimensional forms.
Around 400 bowls have been made for The Glory Hole’s Empty Bowls event on Sunday. It’s the ninth time the emergency shelter and soup kitchen has held the fundraiser.
“The subjects that I like to paint are people, people doing things,” said Rie Muñoz.
A statement from her family says Muñoz was “active and independent until her last hours.”
