Police have released video surveillance footage of someone smashing the window and burglarizing Thibodeau’s Home Liquor in downtown Juneau.

Litter, fistfights, intoxicated loiterers, open container violations and sundry calls for emergency services are common at the pocket park in the shadow of the Gastineau Apartments.

Local officials are recommending the City and Borough of Juneau handle all of its financial transactions with marijuana businesses in cash, and to take extra precautions to protect it.

The Juneau Police Department says it has rearrested the man accused of five felonies for out-the-road burglaries and thefts.

Police say they “may have” collected some of the tools stolen from Don Abel from Albert Mazon. But much of the $4,000 in stolen tools and knives are unaccounted for and they want the public’s help.

In 72 hours, the capital city went from having just one contested race and zero candidates for a pair of Juneau School Board seats, to having just a single uncontested race.

Police arrested Albert Martin Mazon, 25, last week. He was charged with five felonies for theft and burglary. Escape would be a sixth felony charge.

Monday is the filing deadline for municipal election candidates to run in Juneau. If no one’s elected to the school board, the board will choose their new colleagues.
