James White, 45, of Juneau was charged with second-degree murder. Prosecutors dismissed three lesser charges.

Superior Court Judge Amy Mead sentenced 34-year-old Joshua Allen Shaff to serve 70 years with 35 years suspended for the murder of Majid Sateri, also known as Mark Humford.

At a pre-trial hearing Tuesday, the state prosecutor, judge and Jeffrey Fultz’s defense attorney all said they plan to avoid further delays. 

U.S. District Court Judge James Robart has ruled in favor of a tribal casino in Birchwood. The judge dismissed the lawsuit filed by neighboring property owners to shut down the casino, which the Eklutna Tribe opened in February.

Anthony Michael Migliaccio maintains his innocence and his attorney argues that public pressure for police to make an arrest led to this outcome. Police stand by their investigation.
