On Wednesday night, the mayor of Skagway and her mother were struck by a bus and killed in Washington, D.C.

Former Ketchikan Gateway Borough School District Superintendent Robert Boyle said the decision to submit his resignation was prompted by various controversies at the school district.

“People don’t want trees in their freezer. It’s all about putting eggs in their freezers, not branches,” said STA Resource Protection Director Jeff Feldpausch. “This is looking grim. This is really grim.”

Juneau residential customers can expect their energy bills to go up an average of $13.62 per month starting in January. The price hike is a temporary change — as long as rainfall returns to normal levels.

The Dunleavy administration’s budget doesn’t include funding to pay back residents for the reductions in permanent fund dividends from the last three years.

The Hoonah City Council has already tentatively agreed to lease city-owned tidelands. The 500-foot dock would be built in partnership by Huna Totem Corporation and Norwegian Cruise Lines.
