After retiring from a 30-year career as an English and language arts teacher, guitar player George Gress has become a guitar maker.

The Juneau Douglas Ice Association sponsored Treadwell Arena’s first goalie camp of its kind this past weekend.

The Juneau teachers’ union and the school district did not reach an agreement Wednesday after a full-day meeting. The teachers’ last contract expired June 30.
