"One People Canoe Society"

Eight veterans participated during the first canoe journey in 2016. This year, there were 28.

The paddlers came from across Southeast and parts of Canada, journeying for days to arrive for the festival.

Dance groups, artists, canoe paddlers and traditional food experts are gearing up for Celebration 2018, June 6-9 at Juneau’s Centennial Hall.

Members of the One People Canoe Society are traveling this week from Alaska to North Dakota to paddle in protest over a controversial pipeline. The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe has asked paddlers from around the country to show support with a float down the Missouri River.

His name is Roary Earl Bennett. He’s 10 years old from Craig, and he’s making the journey with his grandfather.

Members of the One People Canoe Society finished the last leg of their weeklong journey from Angoon to Juneau on Wednesday.
