Alaska Representative Don Young’s resolution now moves to the U.S. Senate, where Alaska Senators Mark Begich and Lisa Murkowski have sponsored companion legislation.

Now that the Supreme Court has upheld the Affordable Health Care Act, Alaska’s leaders prepare for what comes next.

Murkowski says the Niblack and Bokan Mountain mines could provide stable, well-paying jobs for hundreds of people. But with no roads to either site, workers would have to be boated or flown to and from the mines.
