Gov. Mike Dunleavy released a statement Thursday saying Alaska had joined a Texas case challenging election results in Pennsylvania, Georgia, Wisconsin and Michigan.

Some say the denial of the newspaper’s request shows that the state’s system for providing public records is broken because it depends on public officials’ willingness to turn over documents that could incriminate them.
