Sealaska has taken possession of 70,000 acres that used to be part of the Tongass National Forest.

Legislation that passed Congress yesterday will allocate $50 million to clean up the 130 oil and gas wells that were drilled and abandoned by the federal government in the National Petroleum Reserve – Alaska.

Alaska is the only state where federal legacy wells exist. Most of the wells have been left untouched for decades.
