Pedestrian sideswiped by vehicle on North Douglas

A pedestrian was injured after being hit by an alleged drunk driver Sunday morning.

Captial City Fire and Rescue says they transported the 33-year old woman to the hospital after she was hit by the vehicle’s side mirror at about the 4500 block of North Douglas Highway.

A 52 year old male driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated and transported to Bartlett Regional Hospital for an independent test. The driver’s identity was not released as charges are still pending.

There was also a 49-year woman passenger in the vehicle. Police say both the pedestrian and the driver were intoxicated.
