Internships offer students government experience

The State of Alaska in the last fiscal year employed 229 student interns statewide. These students didn’t just make coffee and answer phones – most are involved in the daily business of the various state government departments in which they work.

With summer winding down, students heading off to college or back to high school, KTOO high school intern Kayla Schauwecker caught up with students in the Department of Environmental Conservation to find out what they’ve been learning in their summer jobs.
