Float plane crashes on Kodiak Island

There was a float plane crash in the vicinity of Uganik Lake this afternoon.

A De Havilland DHC-2 float plane carrying three people crashed shortly after 12:30 p.m., according to Petty Officer Bill Colclough in the Anchorage Coast Guard Public Affairs Office.

The Coast Guard has dispatched two air crews from air station Kodiak, he said.

In a recent update from the Kodiak Public Affairs Office, Petty Officer Kelly Parker said the Coast Guard transferred one of the injured crewmembers for medical care and there is a rescue swimmer on scene to assist in the care of the other two crewmembers.
