Celebrate the holidays with KTOO!

All three radio stations and KTOO 360 TV will broadcast special holiday programming to help make this festive season brighter. 

December 15, 2025 

  • KRNN 102.7 & 103.1 FM   
    • 3 p.m. – 4 p.m.: Candles Burning Brightly.
      A delightful hour for everyone to celebrate the Jewish Festival of Lights! Lots of music from Jewish communities around the world, plus a hilarious lesson on how to prepare a classic Chanukah dish, and a timeless and touching holiday story that brings light into every home

December 18, 2025 

  • KRNN 102.7 & 103.1 FM   
    • 4 p.m. – 5 p.m.: The All Songs Considered Holiday Extravaganza.
      This year Robin Hilton and Stephen Thomson head back to the snowy cabin in the woods where the annual All Songs Considered get-togethers began many years ago. Join us as we attempt to throw another party for the ages, with one simple, fate-tempting question: What could possibly go wrong?

December 20, 2025

    • 2 p.m. – 3 p.m.: A Chanukah Celebration with Chicago a cappella.
      Join Jonathan Miller, artistic director of Chicago a cappella and a longtime champion of Jewish choral music, for an inspiring and informative show featuring choral music set to Chanukah texts.

December 21, 2025

    • 5 p.m. – 6 p.m.: In Winter’s Glow.
      A winter solstice program, with modern classical sounds for the longest night of the year, chosen especially to compliment the chilly, starry nights of the season.
    • 7 p.m. – 9 p.m.: Hot Jazz for a Cool Night. Join local host Robert Sewell for a holiday themed Take Five.
    • 9 p.m. – 11 p.m.: I’ll Be Home For Christmas. Robert continues the holiday cheer on The Late Shift.

December 23, 2025

      Join local host Laurie Cropley for two hours of nonstop country Christmas fun.

    • 7 p.m. – 8 p.m.: Tinsel Tales: NPR Christmas Favorites.
      This year a radio tradition continues – stories from the NPR archives that touch on the meaning of Christmas. David Sedaris, Bailey White, John Henry Faulk–these and other NPR voices, past and present, tell stories of the season.
      8 p.m. – 9 p.m.: Selected Shorts: What You Wish For.
      Host Meg Wolitzer presents three Christmas stories in different moods—satirical, fantastical, and nostalgic

      The holidays are nearly here, and so are the dinner parties, potlucks, friends-givings, and family gatherings that come with them. Some of us love hosting. Some of us dread it. And some of us are just trying to show up as good guests. Jenn White sits down at the proverbial 1A dinner table with Authors and TV Hosts Samin Nosrat, Jake Cohen and Casey Elsass to talk about how to bring more ease.

      An adaptation produced by KRNN DJs and volunteers by celebrated poet Dylan Thomas evokes the beauty and humor of the season
    • 7 p.m.. – 8 p.m.: A Christmas Carol w/Jonathan Winters.
      A public radio tradition hosted by NPR’s Susan Stamberg. Master comedian Jonathan Winters presents a distinctive reading of Dickens’ holiday classic, with a special performing edition prepared by Dickens for his own presentations. Also featuring Mimi Kennedy.
  • KRNN 102.7 & 103.1 FM   
    • 8 a.m. – 10 a.m.: Christmas Truce.
      Locally produced by John Sivertsen and others
    • 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.: Throwback Thursday.
      Local host Ricky D will spend two hours with you live in the studio Christmas morning play tunes made for the day
    • 4 p.m. – 5 p.m.: Juneau Symphony presents Vox Borealis and Sitka Holiday Brass.
      This festive holiday concert was recorded December 15, 2025 at Thunder Mountain Middle School.

    • 3 p.m.-4 p.m., repeats at 7 p.m.: Best of the Bluecast 
      The Bluescast, also known as the 20th Century Bluescast, was Alaska’s news comedy group for more than 30 years. The Juneau-based troupe began in 1979 as a radio program on KTOO. In the early 1980s, members brought its made-up news, skits and song parodies to the stage of the Alaska folk Festival. Its final show was in 2012. Bluescast members included Jeff Brown, Karl Ohls, Ron Clarke, Ed Schoenfeld, Laury Scandling, Glenda Carino, J. Althea, Terry Harvey, and about 15 others. This special was produced by Ed Schoenfeld and Mike Sakarias.
