A fire has burned the main building at the Fairbanks, Alaska, park that hosts the annual world ice art championships.
The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner, a Fairbanks newspaper, reports the fire was reported shortly after 7:30 a.m. Friday at the Ice Alaska Ice Park.
The burned two-story structure was used as a snack bar and warming building at the BP World Ice Art Championships each February and March.
University Fire Department Chief Douglas Schrage (SHRAHG-ee) says no one was injured in the fire.
Area departments assisted with the response. Schrage says a hose line was set up from a fire hydrant but the fire required additional water and tankers were brought in.
The cause of the fire is unknown. Schrage says he expects the building to be a complete loss.
