Alaska’s U.S. House and Senate candidates Debate for the State at 8 p.m. Thursday

On Thursday night, KTOO will carry live television and radio broadcasts of Alaska Public Media’s Debate for the State featuring Alaska’s candidates for the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate.

The program begins at 8 p.m. with the U.S. House race. Incumbent Republican Don Young is being challenged by Democrat Steve Lindbeck, Libertarian Jim McDermott and independent Bernie Souphanavong.

The U.S. Senate candidates will debate at 9 p.m. Incumbent Republican Lisa Murkowski is being challenged by Democrat Ray Metcalfe, Libertarian Joe Miller and independent Margaret Stock.

Public media journalists based in Anchorage, Fairbanks, Juneau and Washington will moderate the debates and provide analysis.

In Juneau, Alaska Public Media’s television signal is broadcast over the air as KTOO Channel 3.1 and on cable. KTOO is also carrying Debate for the State on the radio. You can tune in over the air or live stream it here.
