ANCHORAGE — A man walking dogs Thursday morning near the Seward airport was mauled by a bear.
The 46-year-old man was able to call for help on his cellphone about 6:45 a.m., Anchorage television station KTUU reports.
The man was taken to Providence Seward Medical Center for treatment, Seward Police Chief Tom Clemons said.
The brown bear may have been with cubs.
Seward police after the mauling searched for the bear.
Police warned people to stay away from the area.
