At least 19 teenagers and one adult were injured, some seriously, Wednesday morning at Franklin Regional High School in Murrysville, Pa., when a male suspect who may have been one of their fellow students attacked them with sharp weapons — reportedly, two knives.

A picture is beginning to emerge of 34-year-old Army Spc. Ivan Lopez, who officials have said is the man who opened fire Wednesday at Fort Hood, killing at least three people and wounding another 16 before apparently taking his own life.

Honolulu’s police department raised objections to the plan to end the exemption, saying that officers need it because in some cases their safety and investigations might be at risk.

An independent review of 67 cases in which Border Patrol agents used deadly force found that in some of them “agents have deliberately stepped in the path of cars apparently to justify shooting at the drivers and have fired in frustration at people throwing rocks from the Mexican side of the border.”

Riot police stormed the main anti-government camp in central Kiev, the capital of Ukraine, on Tuesday. They fought with demonstrators armed with clubs and wearing helmets fought back.
