American Graduate – Events

June: (Date TBA) | A wrap-up “graduation” with interns and community partners

 

May 30: 7 a.m. – 8 a.m. | Presentation at the Gastineau Rotary Club about what we’ve learned this year, and what specific actions can be taken to by individual community members and businesses to improve student success.

 

May 22: 12 p.m. – 1 p.m. | Presentation at the Glacier Valley Rotary Club about what we’ve learned this year, and what specific actions can be taken to by individual community members and businesses to improve student success.

 

May 21: 12 p.m. – 1 p.m. | Presentation at the Juneau Rotary Club about what we’ve learned this year, and what specific actions can be taken to by individual community members and businesses to improve student success.

 

May 16: 11:30 p.m. – 12:30 p.m. | Presentation at the Juneau Chamber of Commerce about what we’ve learned this year, and what specific actions can be taken to by individual community members and businesses to improve student success.

 

December 10: 7 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. | Getting to Graduation Community Conversation. Broadcast live on KTOO-FM, Statewide TV and both audio and video streamed live on our website.

 

September 29: 12 p.m. – 4 p.m. | “Drop In” day at Zach Gordon. Students needing to return to school could instantly re-enroll and get connected to health and counseling resources.

 

September 24 – 28 | KTOO News Department produced 3 stories addressing the issue during Morning Edition. On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, KXLL hosted live remotes from each of our 3 high schools talking with students during lunch about why it’s important to stay in school, why kids drop out, etc. On Thursday on KTOO News, A Juneau Afternoon focused entirely on how to achieve better student success.

 

September 22 | 7 hours of national television programming on 360 North on the national drop-out crisis with information on Alaska resources throughout the day.
