Arts@360’s Alaska Originals is excited to present the work of Woosh Kinaadeiyí, featuring spoken word performances by Christy NaMee Eriksen, Veinglorious , Guy Unzicker and Mike Christenson, set to the music of Jacob Pickard. Conor Lendrum hosts.
Woosh Kinaadeiyí is a nonprofit organization committed to diversity, inclusive community, and empowering voice. Woosh Kinaadeiyí organizes free to low cost monthly events in Juneau, including open mics, poetry slams, and spoken word workshops.
Michael Christenson has performed poetry in bars, cars, libraries, juvenile correctional facilities, classrooms, museums, auditoriums, coffee shops, and on rooftops.
Combining awkward humor and security through obscurity, his poetry explores the complexities and impossibilities we all live through every day. They just happen to be disguised as paeans to peaches; rants about attention deficit democracy, and imminentizing the eschaton.
but mostly, love poems to the moon
Conor Lendrum is a Juneau local with a deep love of language, rhythm, and community. There are few things he believes in more than Woosh Kinaadeiyi, but you’re one of them, baby.
Christy NaMee Eriksen
Christy NaMee Eriksen is an award-winning multidisciplinary artist, community activist, educator, and writer whose work is grounded in social justice and community engagement. Co-founder and president of Woosh Kinaadeiyí. Lover, fighter.
Jacob Pickard is a talented chef and even more talented musician. A fresh new resident of Juneau, you can find him at the Woosh Kinaadeiyi open mics and slams as the Woosh House Band when he’s not raising his twins or raising some dough in the kitchen.
Veinglorious is a Filipino-American singer/emcee from Southeast Alaska. A 2003 graduate from Juneau-Douglas High School, he is a U.S. Air Force Veteran, a 2016 TeamBackpack finalist, and a 2016 nominee for the Alaska Hip Hop Award’s Alaska Male Rapper Of The Year.
Ziggy, who recently got engaged to a beautiful poetess, is a huge fan of the poets of Woosh.
