Meet the Femme Fatale performers

The Alaskan Aids Assistance Association kicks off their annual drag fundraiser Femme Fatale this weekend. The event brings together talent from Juneau and Anchorage who will perform gender bending feats and musical high jinks on the Rendezvous and Rockwell stages.

Doors at the Rendezvous open Friday at 7 p.m. with performances beginning at at 8:30 p.m. Local kings and queens will face off for the right to perform Saturday at the Rockwell Ballroom alongside five performers from Anchorage.

Admission is a suggested donation of $10 on Friday; general admission is $20 in advance or $25 at the door Saturday. Donations and tips go to the Four A’s, which supports disease prevention and care services for those living with HIV in Southeast Alaska.

We asked the performers to fill out a questionnaire about themselves. Some answered as themselves, some in character. A few of the stage names are sexually suggestive or vulgar.

What is your favorite part of performing? Smiles! In the crowd and backstage, I enjoy supporting my drag brothers and sisters. They are amazing people.

Who is your dragspiration? Gigi on and off stage; she is such an amazing professional and person.

Which performer do you have the biggest beef with and why? Now why would I go there?

If you were mayor of Juneau, what would you change? The pay. I would increase it so we could attract people that do not already have an established and vested retirement nets.

What is your most useful makeup trick that you’d like to share? Makeup and I are still in mediation.

What’s one thing you’d like folks to know about you? I love country western music when I am in Montana or driving to see my grandmother.[/item][item id=”1475107175-2-77″ tab_id=”1475107429898-5″ title=”Item”]

dr-feelgood

Tracey Wiese aka Dr. Feelgood

What is your favorite part of performing? I do drag because I am a born performer. I love making people smile and the energy I get from the crowd. I identify as gender fluid, and drag gives me the opportunity to explore the more masculine parts of myself.

Specialty: My specialty is theatrical performances. Rather than focusing on “sex” I really truly focus on creating a performance that is in some way therapeutic for me, pertinent to social events occurring in the world, etc.

How did you get your stage name? I am a nurse practitioner by profession and I have a doctorate degree in nursing. I love making people smile and feel good, so the name came naturally to me.

What can we expect from Femme Fatale? For Femme Fatale, you can expect fun! I am working on a duet with another king, and really hoping to bring to Juneau some of my best numbers!

What is your favorite part of performing? My favorite part of performing is spreading love and smiles, bringing attention to issues that matter, and I love donating my tips to great causes.

Which performer do you have the biggest beef? I have the biggest beef with no one!

What is your most useful makeup trick that you’d like to share? Learning how to contour changed my life!

How much luggage are you bringing with you? I’m in Juneau for less than 24 hours.

What’s one thing you’d like folks to know about you? I am really excited to bring my drag to Juneau, I am so honored to have been invited.[/item][item id=”1475107175-3-23″ tab_id=”1475107430111-7″ title=”Item”]freeza-d-lust

Freeza D’Lust aka Cody Frazier

Specialty: My specialty would be flipping, drops, splits, kicks, faces, singing. Umm, a variety of everything I guess!

How did you get your stage name?  I got my name Freeza because of the F from my last name, and then the fact that I’m a little giant nerd, so Freeza from Dragon Ball Z. My character is a hooker doll from outer space, so D’Lust fit!

What can we expect from Femme Fatale? You can expect back handsprings, death drops, splits, all in 6-plus inch heels!

What is your favorite part of performing? My favorite part about performing is the faces and reactions from the crowd! Oh, and the rush I get!

Which performer do you have the biggest beef with and why? I have the biggest beef with people who claim that someone’s drag isn’t drag. Everyone has their own thing, so let them do whatever makes ’em happy!

What is your most useful makeup trick that you’d like to share? My most useful trick is to just turn off the lights while you perform so no one can see how horrible your makeup really is. But seriously, using tape on the eyes so your eye shadow and eye liner is super sharp!

How much luggage are you bringing? I’m probably bringing a small bag, and then, like, a small case. Let’s be real, drag is expensive and I’m broke. Soooo, yeah.

What’s one thing you’d like folks to know about you? One thing I want people to know about me is that I’m sorry. If I grab you or dance on you or pretty much do what I do, it’s all in good fun![/item][item title=”Item” id=”1475109133886-0-8″ tab_id=”1475109133891-5″]

ivanna-kischacokIvanna Kischacok aka Andrew Castelli

Specialty: Costume reveals

Notable performances: I am proud to wear the crown as your reigning Miss Gay Alaska 2016-2017; I also am one of the headliners of the Friday Night Diva Variety Show in Anchorage at Mad Myrna’s.

What is your favorite part of performing? I love to perform in front of big audiences and I can’t sing, so I make up for it on other areas of entertainment.

How did you get your stage name? Funny story, my husband gave it to me. (It) came from wanting to be Russian and punny about it.

What can we expect from Femme Fatale? Costume changes and a good time.

What is your favorite part of performing? The crowd reaction and interaction throughout the performance.

Which performer do you have the biggest beef with and why? Sweat … and my corset. Sweat usually makes my fake eyebrows look bad and my corset is really hard to dance with.

What is your most useful makeup trick that you’d like to share? Glitter! It makes all your mistakes look beautiful.

How much luggage are you bringing? Given the fact that we will only be here two nights, I only brought five bags (joking). Only two, as makeup and clothing must travel separately.

What’s one thing you’d like folks to know about you? I am a Russian mail-order bride from Chernobyl. I survived the meltdown of ’86. Radiation makes me look 25, but I’m really 55.[/item][item title=”Item” id=”1475194854371-0-5″ tab_id=”1475194854375-4″]anita-twat

Anita Twat

I do drag because … Caaaash, money!

My specialty is … Giving the audience that unexpected twist, like an M. Night Shyamalan movie.

I got my stage name … As a joke but it stuck. Like my last boyfriend. Ugh.

For Femme Fatale, you can expect … To get wet. In more ways than one.

My favorite part of performing is … Hearing the crowd scream with excitement/horror.

I have the biggest beef with … Tucking before a show.

My most useful makeup trick is … Blend. And more winged liner.

I’m bringing X amount of luggage with me … Two bags.

One thing I want people to know about me is … I’m a professional makeup artist and I did the head shots for Miss Alaska this year.

Anything else we forgot to mention that you think Juneau should know? I love pizza and I’m an experienced lover.[/item][item title=”Item” id=”1475194953464-0-8″ tab_id=”1475194953468-4″]

aquarius-valentine

Aquarius Valentine aka Ryan Hicks

Age: 21 years young on the outside, but 10 billion years ancient on the inside

Specialty: My shoes. I have lots of fun, cute and crazy shoes.

Notable Performances: Quit Draggin my Heart Around, February 2016, Glitz June 2016, Heatwave August 2016

Day job: Shoenista at Shoefly.

How did you get your stage name? I used my Zodiac sign, which is Aquarius ’cause I love all that “what your sign means” stuff, and I wasn’t gonna have a last name until my co-worker suggested Valentine, cause I was born on Valentine’s Day. So that’s how my name came to be.

What can we expect from Femme Fatale? Hopefully, I’ll be performing at Femme Fatale, if I do, it’ll be my first time, so I don’t even know what to expect, but I can tell you this: It’ll be fun!

What is your favorite part of performing? Seeing the crowd full of excitement, have dollars in their hands ready to get thrown at me or shoved up or down my clothes. Also, getting all the attention.

Who is your dragspiration? I know this might sound bad but I don’t really have one. I heard from a friend that “why be inspired by someone when you can be the inspiration yourself?”

Which performer do you have the biggest beef with and why? All of them! Just kidding. I love my drag family, but Niza Dia and I are the newest queens in the family so her and I are the bestest of drag buddies, but we can get competitive with each other sometimes but for the most part it is for jokes and laughs nothing serious.

If you were mayor of Juneau, what would you change? Uhhhhhh …

What is your most useful makeup trick that you’d like to share? For my lip line, I use a very small, thin brush, get it wet, pick a color of blush that is close to my lipstick and brush on my lip line.

What’s one thing you’d like folks to know about you? Don’t be afraid to ask me any questions about drag or about myself or if you want my photo just ask me. I’m a nice person come talk to me, I wont bite — much.[/item][item title=”Item” id=”1475219455399-0-0″ tab_id=”1475219455407-10″]hank-van-dickerson

Hank VanDickerson/Christine VanDickerson

My specialty is … Being able to turn into a very hot dude. ;) As well as play two genders the same show!

For Femme Fatale, you can expect … An upbeat, awesome, entertaining and flat out amazing show! I love hosting and have pure joy on stage, and you will feel that!

My favorite part of performing is … The joy I get and passing that on to the fans!

I have the biggest beef with … Trump! Hahahahahaha!

My most useful makeup trick is … Duct tape! And a wig to cut the crap out of for my beard :)

One thing I want people to know about me is … I have so much fun on stage, but I’m just a normal person! My passions in life are animals, teaching, science, astronomy, art and the Alaska Zoo![/item][item title=”Item” id=”1475219615101-0-6″ tab_id=”1475219615107-9″]lituya-hart

There’s a really sweet balance of serenity and thrill when you rehearse a song to death and you’re able to do most of what you practiced.

Who is your dragspiration?
Gigi Monroe, Duh! and Adore Delano … and Bob The Drag Queen.

Which performer do you have the biggest beef with and why? I’m allergic to beef.

If you were mayor of Juneau, what would you change?
Lituya is already the mayor, mmkay?!

What is your most useful makeup trick that you’d like to share?

Who is your dragspiration? Gigi Monroe, Landon Cider and Hank VanDickerson

If you were mayor of Juneau, what would you change? Affordable housing and more treatment resources for our brothers and sisters in recovery! Marty for mayor 2018!

Niza Dia

Age: 21

Specialty: Dancing Queen.

Notable Performances: Homewrecker by Marina & the Diamonds at Juneau Glitz 2016

Day Job: Photographer and sales associate at Alaskan Dames

How did you get your stage name? My drag has elements of my mother’s elegance and my father’s panache so my name is a blend of their last names!

What can we expect from Femme Fatale? Major choreography and lots of legs!

What is your favorite part of performing? Seeing the moment an audience’s jaw drops when they find out I’m more than just pretty.

Who is your dragspiration? My celebrity dragspirations are Raja, Kimchi and Miss Fame for their high-fashion based artistry. But my true drag aspiration is Katya for her comedy. Mostly because I have the humor of a moldy piece of cheese. I don’t think any of them have influenced me as much as Gigi Monroe, though. She had the steel courage and tenacity to lead the drag scene here in Juneau. I don’t think I’ve looked up to any drag queen more than her.

Which performer do you have the biggest beef with and why?
Aquarius Valentine, because she always has gorgeous shoes! (On a more serious note, she’s my favorite hot mess xoxo)

If you were a mayor of Juneau, what would you change? School education on gay history. I could have used some of that information growing up.

What’s one thing you’d like folks to know about you? I don’t have a mean bone in my body. Mostly because my waist is so small so I wouldn’t be able to fit them in.[/item][item title=”Item” id=”1475221005052-0-0″ tab_id=”1475221005056-10″]robert-anthony

Becky Bear aka Robert Anthony

Age: 71

Notable performances: Bob Marley

What you can expect from Femme Fatale: An incredible show.

Derivation: Early in life I came to the realization that there were lots of things boys were allowed to do that girls weren’t. So in my make-believe I created Robert Anthony who could do all the things I couldn’t. I never expected to bring him to life but …

One thing to know about me: You’re never too old to do something new.[/item][/carousel]

Annie Bartholomew is a participant in the show and KTOO is a sponsor.
