Anchorage police investigate shooting of teenage driver

Anchorage police are investigating a shooting that left a teenage driver wounded.

Anchorage television station KTVA reports the 17-year-old boy was shot in the chest early Monday.

Police spokeswoman Anita Shell said he was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

The injured boy shortly before 5 a.m. Monday walked into a Holiday gas station and store in east Anchorage.

He told investigators he had been shot while driving near Sixth Avenue and Karluk Street.

He is expected to survive.
