December 29, 2020 / This week from The Signal

All the latest news and information from around Alaska.

But first…

Each week I highlight the best reporting in the state for you. Some of that reporting comes from other news outlets that we partner with. This week, for my end-of-the-year roundup, I’m only going to highlight reporting that came from the KTOO newsroom.

We’re lucky we get to air and publish great reporting from our partners, but for the reporting we do at KTOO, it’s about more than just luck. This is the reporting that we can take credit for. This is the reporting that we as a team decide is important to our community. These stories are mission-driven and they are the stories you’ll only find on KTOO...or at least you’ll find them on KTOO first.

While we carefully curate all the news you encounter on KTOO, think of our original stories as bespoke journalism that’s just for you who call Juneau home, who wake up to Matt Miller in the morning, who tune in to the full broadcast of CBJ Assembly meetings...and for you who stop at KTOO online, on the air or on social media for your news fix, regardless of where you live.

-- Jennifer Pemberton, KTOO Managing Editor

Stories you may have missed

Some of my personal favorite stories from the KTOO news team this year
KTOO Public Media would like to acknowledge the L'eeneidí and the Wooshkeetaan of the Áak’w Khwáan. Our broadcast studios are on their ancestral homeland. Our building sits on fill that was once tideland and part of what is called the Indian Village. The families of the Juneau Indian Village, like their ancestors, cherish and depend upon their immediate connection to the waterfront. KTOO is working to lift up Tlingit voices and the Tlingit language. Please excuse us for our mistakes, and gunalchéesh for your patience as we learn.
