May 19, 2020 / This week from The Signal

All the latest news and information from around Alaska.
Grace Graham and Gus O’Malley got engaged in November 2018. The couple had big plans for a wedding on May 30 at the Crow Creek Gold Mine in Girdwood, but the coronavirus pandemic forced them to scale down. Pictured above is Grace's bridal bouquet. But first… So long, dear Signaliens

It's true: This is the last time I'll be writing The Signal. As of this week, I'm leaving my post at KTOO and ceding my role as KTOO's Senior Newsletter Writer. Writing this newsletter has been one of the greatest pleasures of my job due to the connections it allowed me to make with you readers. I've encountered some of the kindest, funniest, smartest Alaskans on this planet because of this newsletter. I hope you've enjoyed reading it as much as I've enjoyed writing.

I'd love to keep in touch, so if you want to keep hearing from me, please send me a note on Twitter (@RyCunn). And please continue to support KTOO's news coverage — they do incredible work for Juneau and the rest of the state.

Video of the week

From KYUK in Bethel: "As we navigate these times together the spirit of the Y-K Delta remains strong and resilient. Join us in celebrating the power of dance through this video collaboration between KYUK, Pamyua, and everyone who shared their amazing videos! Stay Healthy, Stay Safe, and Keep Dancing! Special thanks to everyone else who submitted a video!"

Just one more thing…

The Signal is intended as a showcase for the best reporting Alaska has to offer.

Do me a favor: If you like The Signal, please do what you can to support KTOO and all the local stations listed below. And tell those reporters, as often as you can, how much you appreciate the work that they do. Nothing could be more validating for a journalist than to know that their reporting is being seen and heard in their community.

So long, Signaliens, and thanks for all the fish. ❤️
