Harris Air is grounding its Sitka-based fleet after 20 years of passenger service. The move leaves some Southeast Alaska communities with only one option for commuter flights.

Harris Air begins service between Haines and Juneau
Almost a year after Haines was left with only one option for flying in and out, there’s a new airline in town. Sitka-based Harris Air began flying to Haines in late December.

In recent years, Wings of Alaska, which was founded in the 1980s, has changed hands and reduced its flight schedule. Now, it is ending operations. Wings of Alaska changes hands this weekend
Wings of Alaska will shut its doors after the last scheduled flight lands in Juneau on Friday, with Gustavus-based Fjord Flying Services taking over Saturday.
