Former Ketchikan Gateway Borough School District Superintendent Robert Boyle said the decision to submit his resignation was prompted by various controversies at the school district.
The Ketchikan School Board talked briefly Wednesday about transgender policies for student athletes, and how such policies need to be uniform for state competitions.
The Ketchikan School Board approved a new policy Wednesday establishing programs to help reduce child abuse and sexual assault. There was no discussion before the unanimous roll-call vote in favor of the policy, which calls for age-appropriate information for students in all grade levels to teach about appropriate conduct, and resources available for students.
The rewritten law is unlikely to reach the governor’s desk this year, said Senate Rules Committee Chair Charlie Huggins.
