Students have been practicing the new name for months. It was proposed to the district Board of Education in April.
In January, Juneau’s Riverbend Elementary School was temporarily relocated. Students and staff are back in the old building now, but it’s not the same.
“The beauty of coming back together, no matter the space is that everyone wants to make it work,” Riverbend Elementary School teacher Lindsay Baranovic said.
The flooding is caused by a pipe that burst over the weekend.
Registration is expected to open at noon on Thursday, pending federal approval of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine for kids age 5 to 11.
Most programs will focus on language arts, math and science, but some art, and P.E. options are available as well.
Under the change, families who live in the future Pederson Hill subdivision would send their kids to Riverbend Elementary School.
