Officials are preparing to raise a sunken 81-foot tugboat Powhatan. A crane barge arrived from Seattle over the weekend, the Daily Sitka Sentinel reported Monday, and divers are going to work over the week to prepare to lift the tug, which sank April 19.
Divers have found multiple spots where oil could have been released and have since sealed off those locations. The total amount of oil released from the Powhatan is unknown.
A tugboat with more than 300 gallons of oil aboard sank Thursday night in Sitka.
