Aidan Key will be the guest speaker at a town hall sponsored by the Juneau Human Rights Commission titled “Creating Greater Gender Inclusion in the Juneau Community.” The town hall will take place Thursday, September 28 at the downtown library. Plus, more musical bands from the Áak’w Rock Indigenous Music Festival.
The committee will be tasked with reviewing legislation that comes before the Assembly to ensure that it doesn’t perpetuate discrimination or inequality in the community.
Assembly members in committee also discussed an anti-racism resolution that’s part of the response to the Black Lives Matter movement’s demands, and Assembly member Rob Edwardson’s ordinance to create a Systemic Racism Review Committee.
Three commissioners with input from several community members at the Tuesday meeting drafted the statement.
