Projects for named communities in Southeast — Ketchikan, Craig, Sitka, Hyder and Klawock — make up about 7% of the state’s bond.

Canada’s new rules will let Hyder’s students cross the border to attend school. There is no school in Hyder.

Residents in Hyder and Stewart are advocating for what they’re calling the Bear Bubble, which would create a shared space for residents in both communities and exempt them from the quarantine rules.

Canada and the U.S. will close borders to “non-essential travel.”
