The Thane Community Garden, which is in its first growing season. The organizer says she wanted there to be a place for neighbors to come together to plant in a sunny, flat community space. 

The owners both have day jobs, so the bulk goods store is a part-time operation.

Grocers faced higher wholesale prices for frozen turkeys this year. But because of fierce competition, they still cut their retail prices. Consumers are finding bargains on other holiday foods, too.
