Unalaska City Council’s five-to-one vote overturned last month’s narrow rejection of the program, authorizing a “trial run” for four inmates to live and work at the UniSea fish processing plant.
A proposal from the state’s Department of Corrections would allow four inmates to work at an Unalaska fish processing plant. The resolution could still pass if the Unalaska City Council revisits the issue.
Members of the Unalaska City Council are under investigation. Police Chief Mike Holman confirmed Tuesday to KUCB that the Unalaska Department of Public Safety is investigating current and potentially former city councilors.
