The woman contacted her husband, telling him she had been charged by multiple bears and had used bear spray. Shortly after that, she stopped responding to phone calls and messages. 

Troopers are asking hikers to avoid the area until avalanche conditions improve.

Rescuers flew over the crash site Friday night, but were unable to reach the ground due to steep, mountainous terrain and poor weather.
