A Federal Highway Administration spokesperson says that the ferry terminal project is only “illustrative” at this point and is not yet eligible for federal funding.
The draft study on options for improving the Fred Meyer intersection is open for public comment until June 16.
After a decades-long process, the state wants to wrap up the acquisition of land for that road and is prepared to use the force of law if necessary.
“I can recall a time where we would have maybe one good freezing rain event a winter,” said Tom Grman. “And then several winters ago, those were really prevalent.”
Improving the intersection is just an idea for now. There’s no public timeline, mandate or money committed to actually build it.
