KTOO seeks qualified people to join our Gavel Alaska team, working seasonally during the upcoming 2022 Legislative session. The crew will work together to produce daily live television and web coverage of the Alaska Legislature and other programming on the statewide KTOO 360TV public affairs channel.
Applicants should be available for full-time or part-time work from January 3rd to early or mid-May, 2022. While not guaranteed, crew members may have the opportunity to work beyond those dates, during special sessions and on other production projects.
These positions frequently require evening and weekend availability and overtime hours. We are looking for people with at least some experience in media production and with a basic understanding of the Legislative process.
We have openings for six crew members. Our crew members operate control room equipment, including:
• Video switchers
• Studio, field and remote controlled cameras
• Audio mixers
• Graphics equipment
The control room teams direct meeting coverage, choosing camera shots, mixing sound, adding on-screen graphics and managing recordings and web streams. Crew members may also be asked to carry and set up equipment for live and recorded coverage. Most of the work is at KTOO Studios, but crew members may occasionally be tasked to work in Alaska State Capitol building if COVID conditions permit.
The hourly rate of pay ranges from $20.88 to $24.33 per hour, depending on experience and the specific assignment. We offer paid training for entry-level individuals.
As critical infrastructure, KTOO is taking COVID-19 seriously. Our procedures are continuing to adapt to local conditions and government guidance. KTOO requires those working in the building to be fully vaccinated, and masks are required to be worn by everyone during times of high transmission.
Interested applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. Apply online at https://www.ktoo.org/job-opportunities/apply-online/
