Local officials signed a proclamation yesterday highlighting National Arts in Education Week and the importance of arts education in school.
Most University of Alaska campuses see lower enrollment
Fall enrollment is down at most University of Alaska campuses. Early numbers show the university headcount off 4.5 percent, or over 1,000 students, from last fall. The highest declines are at Southeast and Fairbanks campuses.

Agreement reached over former Auke Bay Marine Station
The City and Borough of Juneau and the University of Alaska Southeast have inked a deal to share a former federal marine lab on Auke Bay. The former NOAA facility has been largely shuttered since federal scientists moved to the larger Ted Stevens Marine Research Institute on Lena Point.
