Gov. Walker lets Juneau road money stand, but maintains no-build policy
A governor’s spokesman said Walker’s no-build policy on the road isn’t shifting. Previously, state plans called for extending Glacier Highway in Juneau about 48 miles north.
One person dead after two planes collide midair north of Anchorage
Investigators say two small airplanes collided midair about noon Wednesday west of Anchorage. One plane crashed in water at the mouth of the Susitna River, killing one person on-board. The other was able to continue flying to Anchorage, where it made an emergency landing.
Juneau erects cameras to deter rainbow crosswalk
Cameras have been installed overlooking a Juneau intersection to deter guerrilla artists from painting a downtown crosswalk in rainbow colors. Public works crews have repainted the crosswalk at least five times.
Authorities identify two men killed in Sitka plane crash
The National Transportation Safety Board and Alaska State Troopers are investigating a plane crash this weekend north of Sitka. Pilot Stonie Huffman, 45, of Sitka and passenger James Ronge, 66, of California, were found dead.
