A flood warning is in effect Friday afternoon for Jordan Creek which has already crested to a record level. The National Weather Service says the rain is forecast to taper off by the evening.
Juneau’s ex-prisoners lose Second Chance program
Second Chance, a program for people released from prison in Juneau, closed up shop after its federal grant expired. Social care advocates and state officials say the program is crucial in helping ex-prisoners re-integrate into society.
Juneau warming shelter plan takes shape
The Juneau Assembly has green-lit $75,000 for warming shelter for when overnight temperatures drop below 32 degrees Fahrenheit. The city has budgeted 100 nights of operation for the planned downtown facility over five months.
Juneau’s shuttered Bergmann Hotel to be sold
Owners of the dilapidated Bergmann Hotel say they are selling their downtown properties. The historic hotel was shut down in March after being condemned by the city over safety hazards.

Power failure hits downtown Juneau
A swath of downtown Juneau went dark for about a half hour on Friday morning. AEL&P blamed the outage on unspecified equipment failure in a feeder circuit.
