Five Southeast Alaska artists are receiving Rasmuson Foundation grants to advance their work.

The five are among 36 Alaskans chosen for awards announced Wednesday.

Juneau photographer Ben Huff earned an $18,000 fellowship to start Ice Fog Press. It’s an independent publisher of art and photography books by Alaskans.

Hydaburg weaver Jacinthe TwoBulls received a $7,500 project award to create a contemporary cedar bark outfit out of materials she will harvest.

Tenakee Springs puppeteer Darius Mannino received a project award of the same amount to develop short works to be performed at his bakery.

So did Juneau spoken-word artist Christy NaMee Eriksen, to document her work in videos featuring new and revised poems.

Juneau photographer Patrice Aphrodite Helmar also received a project award to buy a large-format camera and complete a series of photographs of hometown haunts for an exhibition.
