Municipalities reluctant to accept state harbors

Sitka’s municipal government just agreed to take over ownership and maintenance of the Southeast community’s remaining state-owned boat harbors. Other coastal Alaska towns are doing the same, although reluctantly, and one is refusing such a transfer. They’re worried the state is dumping decrepit docks and failing floats on local governments without enough money to bring them up to reasonable standards. CoastAlaska’s Ed Schoenfeld reports.
