U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia has been formally asked to step aside from consideration of a case involving Vice President’s Dick Cheney’s refusal to turn over documents related to his energy task force. Just weeks after the Supreme Court agreed to hear the case, Cheney and Scalia spent time together during a personal outing. Critics believe that such a trip will lead to perceptions that Scalia will be biased in the case. For his part, Scalia says such contacts are routine. The case, he says, involves the vice president in his official capacity, not Dick Cheney as an individual.
