“Her focus on education, her focus on examining our city budget at a really deep level, not just a broad stroke policy level, but getting into the line items – I think that’s a really valuable for assembly members to go after the budget work,” said Deputy Mayor Jesse Kiehl.
Albert Clough, Cheryl Jebe, Arnold Liebelt, Douglas Mertz and Barbara Sheinberg have applied for the District 1 Juneau Assembly seat. The assembly plans to interview them Jan. 11 and make a final decision Jan. 12.
As Juneau’s mayor, Mary Becker is establishing regular office hours at city hall, attending meetings scheduled by the late mayor and educating herself on her new role. At the same time, she wants to follow through with some of Greg Fisk’s initiatives.
