LINKS TO ALASKA AND THE WORLD
The KTOO communications center provides flexible and extensive connections to the outside world. Satellite, fiber, microwave and cable connections allow us to reach every corner of Alaska, and we can receive programs and video and audio services from a variety of locations around the world. We can arrange customized distribution to effectively reach the desired audience.
Outbound Links - KTOO’s production facilities are interconnected by digital fiber to the AT&T Alascom gateway uplink at Lena Point, providing access to:
- Alaska Two's MPEG-II digital video channel, on Aurora II
- University of Alaska's MPEG-II digital video channel, on Aurora II
- GCI Cable's Juneau head end
Inbound - KTOO is equipped to receive inbound audio and video services from:
- GE-3 Ku band transponders, including all PBS feeds
- Aurora II digital video up-links in Anchorage and Fairbanks
- Galaxy 4 C band, including Public Radio Satellite System feeds
- State capitol via coaxial cable
- University of Alaska Southeast Auke Lake Campus via coaxial cable
- Centennial Hall Convention Center via coaxial cable
- Portable microwave from many sites in the Juneau area
- T-1 Internet connection to ACS
- Video conferences using H.323 compatible equipment
- Additional in-bound services can be arranged via AT&T Alascom Lena Point gateway or through KTOO special facilities
