KTOO PRODUCTION FACILITIES

KTOO operates from a well-equipped production center in downtown Juneau, including technical and support facilities, meeting space and back-up power for production and distribution of a variety of video and audio services and radio and television programs.

Studio 1 Sound Stage: A 50x30-television studio with full lighting facilities, full cyclorama, black, blue curtains and scene shop. Equipped with three Ikegami HL-55 cameras, two Teleprompters, staging furniture and a wide assortment of microphones.

Production Control: A fully-equipped control room with an Ampex Vista switcher, Presto character generator, two Betacam SP player/recorders, Teleprompter control, multi-channel audio console, digital effects generator, still store, studio lighting system controls and telephone interface.

Edit Suites: Two Media 100 non-linear edit suites capable of 3D effects and production output, Betacam SP, 1-inch and DVC Pro digital mastering.

Tape Dubbing, Viewing & Logging: Betacam SP viewers with V-log computer control, VHS viewer and 3/4-inch viewers and multi-format dub center with high-speed VHS duplicator.

Field Production Packages: Sony HD-750 camcorder, Ikegami HL-55 cameras, Betacam SP recorders, DVC Pro 700 digital camcorders, full audio and lighting packages.

Webcasting: KTOO provides full audio and video webcasting solutions, including the hardware, software, dedicated bandwidth to the Internet and in-house expertise to produce, encode, store and stream video and audio on the web.

Distribution and Interconnection: KTOO’s production facilities are linked to the AT&T Alascom Lena Point gateway for outbound distribution on Aurora II. In addition, our satellite antenna complex can receive feeds from Telstar 402R, Galaxy 4 and Aurora II/Satcom C-5.

Talk Studio: A fully-equipped audio production suite, including 12-channel Broadcast Audio console and digital editing PCs equipped with Cool Edit. In addition, KTOO provides Sennheiser MD-421 microphones, mini-disc and DAT recorders, turntables, broadcast-quality cassette and CD players, and a 12x5 talk studio.

Sound Reinforcement: Rental equipment includes 12-channel Carvin powered mixer board with speakers and for smaller events, a Peavy sound system with up to four microphones, stands, speakers and amplifiers. For smaller special events we also can provide a small music system with one microphone, two CD players, amplifier and speakers.
