Most Southeast lawmakers support energy bills

All but one Southeast lawmaker voted for energy relief legislation passed by the legislature. All five of the region’s representatives and two of its three senators cast yes votes, though some expressed reservations. Only Sitka Republican Senator Bert Stedman voted against the legislation.

Conservation lessons from Juneau emergency

Conservation caught on throughout Juneau during the city’s energy emergency this spring. Alaska Electric Light and Power says its three major classes of customers — residential, commercial, and government — all cut their consumption by 20 percent or more.
