Woman in fatal village ATV crash charged with manslaughter

ANCHORAGE — A southwest Alaska woman faces a manslaughter charge after a fatal all-terrain vehicle crash last week.

Katherine Noatak, 25, of Akiachak also is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, Alaska State Troopers said.

She’s being held without bail at the Bethel jail.

Online court documents do not list an attorney for Noatak.

Investigators say Noatak just before midnight Friday was driving an all-terrain vehicle in Akiachak that struck Ruth Lomack, 76.

Lomack was pronounced dead at the Akiachak clinic.

Noatak was injured and transported by a medevac flight to a Bethel hospital.

Akiachak is a village of 700 on the Kuskokwim River about 18 miles northeast of Bethel.
