US marshals arrest man indicted in Anchorage homicide

A second suspect indicted on murder charges in the death of an Anchorage man on a rural road is in custody.

U.S. marshals on Friday arrested 19-year-old Riek William Gat in West Virginia.

He was sought in the death of 22-year-old Michael Mitchell.

Mitchell’s body was found just before 8:30 a.m. Aug. 22 at Mile 3 Campbell Airstrip Road in Anchorage. He had been shot multiple times in the head and torso.

Gat is charged with first- and second-degree murder.

An 18-year-old man, Kutay Bangout, also is charged with first- and second-degree murder in case. He was arrested on a theft charge and remains in custody.
