10-year-old girl dies of injuries due to ATV accident in Grayling

A 10-year-old girl has died from injuries she sustained from an ATV accident in Grayling.

Aaliyahellie Shangin-Andrews of Anchorage was riding on the back of a 2001 Honda four-wheeler while Kaitlin Andrews, 18, was driving.

The driver swerved around a pothole causing the 10-year-old to be thrown from the ATV and onto the road.

She was medevaced to the Alaska Native Medical Center in Anchorage with fatal injuries.

The State Medical Examiner’s Office reported that Aaliyahellie Shangin-Andrwes died August 19 at the medical center.

A dispatch from the Alaska State Troopers Department says the investigation related to her death continues.
