Man sought on manslaughter charge surrenders to police

ANCHORAGE — A man sought by Anchorage police on a manslaughter charge has turned himself in.

Anchorage television station KTUU reports Kuach Kuach, 19,  surrendered Tuesday afternoon.

He is charged in the Aug. 5 death of Chaduer Chuol, 19.

Police say Chuol and Kuach, traveling in a car that morning, may have been involved in a shootout with a dark-colored pickup while westbound on east Fifth Avenue.

Kuach suffered a gunshot wound to the arm.

Chuol was driving. The car crashed head-on into a pickup heading east. Chuol was ejected and he died at the scene.

Police found bullet holes in the car and evidence that shots had been fired from inside the car.

Police recovered guns and shell casings after the fatal crash.
