Third kidnapping suspect surrenders to Anchorage police

ANCHORAGE — A third man sought in a suspected Anchorage kidnapping has turned himself in.

Serge Azede, 24, surrendered to police Monday night, Anchorage police said. Online court documents do not list his attorney.

William Burgess, 18, on Aug. 14 abducted a woman at gunpoint, drove her to another location and met up with Azede and Jean Vagao, 19, police said.

The woman was assaulted, tied up, driven near Eklutna Lake and left in a forested area, police said. She freed herself, and with help from a passer-by, called police.

Fairbanks police arrested Burgess early Monday morning in Fairbanks. He’s charged with kidnapping, felony assault and two counts of sexual assault.

Vagao is in custody on kidnapping and assault charges.
