Robbery suspect rifles through car, pulls gun on owner

ANCHORAGE — A car owner tried to stop a man rifling through the vehicle and was threatened with a gun, Anchorage police said.

The incident occurred Wednesday afternoon on North Bliss Street in the Mountain View neighborhood of northeast Anchorage.

A resident at 2:30 p.m. called to say a man was going through his car, which was parked in a carport, police said.

When the man confronted the suspect, the suspect pulled out a handgun and threatened to shoot the man.

The suspect fled on foot.

The robbery victim described the suspect as Samoan or Polynesian, 5-feet-11 and 210 pounds, with a small afro. He had a sweatband in his hair and he wore a gray jacket.
